In the Autumn Term we entered a voyage of discovery, travelling through time with our topic about Survival! We have enjoyed reading Bear Grylls Mission Survival: Gold of the Gods and writing our own short stories based around a theme of survival. We have learnt about evolution and how our world has developed and changed over time.
In Maths we have created Maths Journals to support us in our learning through the year with a particular focus on Place Value, Number Work and Fractions.
We have also enjoyed Forest Schools sessions at Marsden Park. We took part in a Roald Dahl themed Escape Room topic where we had to solve clues based around Roald Dahl’s books to find the code for a padlock, which once opened gave us all a prize.
In the run up to Christmas we have enjoyed reading A Christmas Carol as part of our English work. We have written our own classically styled stories, based on the themes we read in Charles Dickens’ classic novel. We have used vocabulary that we found in the text and wrote our own chapters to add to A Christmas Carol. We also enjoyed learning about the history of entertainment.
In Maths we continued to develop our knowledge and understanding of number work, in particular multiplication and division. We worked towards our Christmas Production, which was themed around Christmas Carols and also had another Escape Room theme based around Lost Christmas. The clues led us to a safe which contained our Christmas presents.
